Richland Township

Allen County, Ohio

United States

Beaverdam, Bluffton

Richland Township

My goal is to document the origins of Monroe and Richland townships in Allen County, Ohio. Starting with their early days as a part of Putnam County to their 1848 inclusion in Allen County until early 20th century. This study could possibly branch into Pleasant township in Putnam County, Ohio in the early 1800s.

My ancestors moved into this area as early as the 1830s. As new families moved in and children married I've found many of the inhabitants of this area to be collateral ancestors.

What better way to learn about all these ancestors than to study this area documenting occupations, neighbors, social gatherings, etc. It is my hope to gather a comprehensive account of the people, places and events of Monroe and Richland townships.

As I learn more about those who lived in this area I will be better able to preserve and tell their stories as well as learn more about myself.
